When you begin treatment, you'll be given one of our "Dr. Lewis Orthodontics" t-shirts. Wear it as much as you'd like but always wear it on appointment days — wearing your t-shirt helps you earn prizes in our Wooden Nickel Program.
The Wooden Nickel Program
The Wooden Nickel Program is our fun way of rewarding you for your excellent cooperation. Patients in active treatment can receive up to five wooden nickels per regular visit. You'll receive a wooden nickel if:
- You kept your last appointment.
- You arrived on time for this appointment.
- Your tooth brushing and oral hygiene are graded "Good" or "Better".
- You have no lost, broken, or loose braces, wires or other appliances. (The bonus fifth nickel is given if you have excellent cooperation in all four areas.)
No wooden nickels are given if:
- You missed your last appointment. (not cancelled prior to the appointment time)
- You arrived late for this appointment.
- The appointment you are here for is not your regularly scheduled appointment.
- Your appointment today is to repair or replace lost or damaged braces or appliances.
- You are a poor brusher today.
- Your appointment today is because you need extra brushing instruction or a brushing check-up.
If we forget to give you the wooden nickels you deserve, please ask for them before you leave the office! Your wooden nickels can be saved and redeemed for store and restaurant gift certificates and other prizes, but must be cashed in by the time your braces are removed.
Bring in your Report Card for a Bonus
For all A's on a report card, you get 10 nickels. For A's and B's, you get 8 nickels. Have fun!
